This graph  smartphone market shares shows how Android has grabbed a huge share of the smartphone operating system (OS) market since its launch in 2007. The apparently insatiable thirst for mobile media is driving the market for phones and an OS that can support multi-media and more. If only the environmental and clean-tech industries could find a similar thirst! Of course smartphones are build on existing if rapidly developing technology and use existing infrastructure. Contrast that with electric vehicles (or solar power, or…) which require new infrastructure or at least a wholesale reworking of the existing infrastructure, whether it be a house or a filling station. Buying a new phone is so much easier than saving energy!
